Crossing the Threshold
Cognitive archaeology has repeatedly gestured toward symbolic stabilization without making it testable. This paper gives the property a precise, falsifiable definition: a symbolic system is stabilized when it satisfies four jointly necessary conditions — durability, carrier independence, cross-individual replication, and persistence under stress.
