Attestation and Convergence in the Ramayana
Comparative Ramayana scholarship treats agreement between textual traditions as evidence that a detail is historically grounded. This paper argues the inference fails whenever the agreeing texts are not independent — and proposes a seven-tier attestation framework for testing independence before agreement is weighed as evidence.
