Absorption, Not Conquest
A prior peer-reviewed study proposed that symbolically saturated cultures absorb successive political regimes rather than being replaced by them. This paper tests that claim at Tell el-Deir, New Damietta — a site with five documented political transitions across millennia — against the bioarchaeological and material record.
